If our society is really a free market economy, why not let AIG, and the big three fail. If we are as resourceful as some say, we will recover. Letting AIG and these car companies fail will only foster in more innovation by the competitors or someone else with a good idea. I am not for giving any company money because they are too big to fail. There is no such thing. Their competitors have a valid argument, why give them money to succeed against other competition? Let the strong survive and the weak fold. Unemployment is already high, but some other company will fill the gap if there is such a gap in services. If not, then we probably didn’t need them in the first place. AIG should have been forced into bankruptcy and parted up. No one came to Microsofts rescue or Standard Oil back in the day. They were too big to fail too, and had to be parted up. If a company is too big to fail, then they are a monoply or soon will be. Wasn’t that the reason cited for parting up Microsoft and Standard Oil? Instead, we are awarding these clowns with our money. Money that will no doubt be used to impair their competition. How ironic, the banks we gave money to used the money to buy up the competition, now AIG will probably do the same. If GM and Chrysler fail, it will be good for us. Then maybe we can get a company like Tata to come here and build cars we can afford that get 50+ miles per gallon. Of course, that will only happen if the UAW doesn’t get involved. Otherwise, we will have to import them from Korea or somewhere and pay hefty taxes on them. If Tata can build a car for $2500, why cant we do the same? We dont need stimulus or Tarp, we need an industrial revolution. One where we build things that people in other countries want. If we keep exporting jobs, and having to buy goods from other places, all our dollars are going out of the country. The trade imbalance has to be addressed. Everytime it comes up, you hear the word protectionism-why is that?
WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO TAKE BACK GOVERNMENT IF GOVERNMENT CANT DO ITS JOB. I SAY WE IMPOSE A NEW SYSTEM, ONE THAT EVALUATES HOW WELL THESE ELECTED OFFICIALS ARE DOING. WHY IS IT THEY HAVE THE ONLY JOBS IN THE COUNTRY THEY CANT BE FIRED FROM? WHEN’S THE LAST TIME YOU HEARD OF A SENATOR BEING FIRED?
