Dinner at the Ritz, tickets to the Northern Trust Open golf tournament, A concert by Sheryl Crow and Chicago, A stay at the Beverly Wilshire all sounds like a wonderful outing for anyone. The only problem is this event went on for more than a week and the taxpayers picked up the tab. Yes, thats right. The taxpayers footed the bill of hundreds of clients and employees of Northern Trust. Northern Trust paid millions to fly, house, and dine guests at some of the fanciest Los Angeles hotels. And they did it with our money. The party lasted for more than a week with champagne flowing and drinks on Northern Trust. When questioned about it, Northern Trust said the event was planned more than a year in advance.
This blogger’s only question is where were my tickets? If a party was going on and I paid for a portion of it, I should have been invited. Yeah, I am pissed. I would have loved to have stayed at the Beverly Wishire or the Ritz, had dinner for a week, went to the golf outing, flew first class, had a rental car and all that stuff on Northern Trust. I would have considered that part of my personal stimulus. I am sure my wife would have loved a little get away too. After all, she deserves a vacation.
